  • “The Six Nations is competitive, entertaining and there is a lot of rivalry.”

WP Nel - Former Scottish professional rugby union player

WP Nel Reflects on Six Nations and life post Professional Rugby.

Former Scotland International rugby player WP Nel has described the Six Nations as one of the toughest and most rewarding competitions he experienced during his professional career. “The Six Nations is competitive, entertaining, and there is a lot of rivalry.” He explains that what makes the tournament stand out is the intensity and consistency required week after week. With little recovery time between matches and every game played at a high level, he believes the Six Nations presents a unique challenge compared to other rugby competitions. We asked him for his advice to current players. Nel encouraged players to make the most of every moment. “Enjoy it, especially their first cup, as time flies by so quickly you have to enjoy every moment and learn from it.” Reflecting on his career, one of the proudest moments for him was when he was selected for Scotland’s squad for the Rugby World Cup 2015, which he described as his personal “I Made it” moment, a reward for his years of hard work and determination.

Since stepping back from professional rugby, WP Nel is now a forwards coach at Glenalmond College. For him, the transition from playing professionally to coaching wasn’t particularly difficult, as he has always enjoyed coaching and helping others develop their skills and knowledge of the game. Under his guidance, the rugby programme has continued to improve, with the team now regularly reaching the later stages of the Scottish championship. Whilst rugby remains a central focus in his life, Nel is also looking to spend more time on his personal goals. He plans to go back to his roots by spending more time farming, something he grew up with and remains connected to as he lives his life after playing professionally.

Clients Visit Macron Headquarters in Italy for a behind-the-scenes tour.

In February, members of the Macron Sports Hub team had the exciting opportunity to take a group of clients out to Macron’s global headquarters in Bolonga, Italy. The visit provided a unique insight into how Macron works and allowed clients to experience first-hand the scale and hard work of the brand.

The trip gave clients an insight into Macron's manufacturing process, from the design phase to teams wearing the kit. Clients were able to better understand and learn how the work of Sports hubs all over the world is implemented.

A tour around the Macron Headquarters brought many opportunities to see the behind-the-scenes and meet the people behind the work. One of the highlights of the trip was attending Bologna vs AC Milan, where clients could see the team and thousands of fans wearing a Macron kit, showing the scale of what a Macron partnership can achieve for themselves.

Sadly, the scoreline wasn’t in the favour of the home team however, the trip was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
